Best Practice:- I

Title of the Practices

Maintenance of attached hostels for over all development of the students

Objective: To provide attached hostel facility with affordable charges to facilitate poor students from distant rural places with comfortable food and accommodation.

Context:-    Majority of students admitted into the college are from rural remote corners around Anakapalle town. Attending to the college daily by public transport is a heavy burden and consumes lot of time which seriously by affects the study time of the students.

Practice:-    Keeping the difficulties of students in daily travel from their native places to the college, Institution has been maintaining college attached hostels for both boys and girls since inspection   on no profit no loss Principle. Very nominal amounts are charged to the students for accommodation and mess charges.

Evidence of success: Residing in the hostels instead of shuttling, significantly reduced the wasting of time and stress among students. As a result, students find ample time to focus on studies as well as extra-curricular activates such as sports, games and participation in physical   fitness activities conducted by the department of Physical Education.

Evidence of success: Success rate in the university examinations significantly improved and identified as one of the best Colleges in Andhra University area with more than 90% success rate. In addition, students excel every year in the Sports / games meet at university/ national level with gold medals and winning positions.

Problems encountered and resources required: Expenditure in maintenance of hostels has been increasing year by year and hence becoming financial burden to the management. Financial assistance in this regard is to be increased from Government side to meet the day to day expenses.

Good number of students has joined as teachers in various subjects like Mathematics/Physical Sciences/Natural Science in reputed high schools.

Problems encountered and resources required:Preparation of Course material for each course has become expensive. No extra fee is collected from the students for conduct of these courses. Still, amounts required to run the programs are borne by the management in the interest of students.
