DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS

PREAMBLE:

            Right from the inception of AMAL College, Department of Mathematics has been an integral post of the collage. It contributed to the welfare of the students and strived for their all round personality development. Gust lectures are being arranged to provide additional curriculum activity the students are asked to participate in student seminars, Group discussion. Discussions on career guidance and many other such extracurricular activities. The faculty members are constantly updating their knowledge by attending workshops, seminars publishing research papers.

            In the inception of the department Sri. Chandra Rao joined as H.O.D. Maths. But left the college as he selected for Civil services. Sri K. Surya Koteswara Rao was then taken charge of the department of the Mathematics who joined in the college in 1954. He worked as H.O.D. of Mathematics till Dec 1991. He was also incharge Principal of the college for three years after retirement of Dr.G. Sree Rama Murthy of English Department. Later Sri. V.K. Chiranjeeva Rao and Sri.K.Radha Krishnayya joined the department. Sri. K. Radha Krishnayya worked as H.O.D. Mathematics Department from 1992 to 1994 and retired in 1994 September on attaining the age of Superannuation, Sri. V.K. Chiranjeeva Rao took voluntary retirement in 1980’s due to health reasons. Dr. S. Hanumantha Rao to charge as Head of the Department in 1994 and lead the Department till 2001 July. From July 2001 to June 2013 Dr. P. Lakshmi discharged the duties of head of the Department of Mathematics and retired. Sri. D. Appalanaidu joined the Department as Lecturer on 4-12-1981 and worked in that till 31-05-2011 and retired. After retirement of Dr. P.Lakshmi, Sri D.W.J. Victor had taken charge as HOD of Mathematics in the year 2013.

                        In the duration of all these years some more lecturers joined in the Department. Smt.J.Sambrajyam joined as Lecturer in 2001 Dec and presently working. Later Sri.S.V.Raman Kumar joined the Department as part time lecturer and left the Department on getting appointment in Govt. Polytechnic College, Anakapalle. Later Sri.D.Jagadeeswara rao joined the department in 2002 as a part time lecturer and presently working and also he is working as N.C.C. Officer in the College. After Retirement of Dr.S.Hanumantha Rao, Sri. B.V.N.Srinivasa Rao joined the department as a part time Lecturer and left to join in ICICI Bank. Later Smt. Y.Rama Devi joined the Department in 2016 as Lecturer and left the department on getting appointment in A.M.A. High School, Anakapalle as Junior. Later some more lecturers joined in the department namely Sri. V.Maha Lakshminaidu, P. Ganesh, B. Jyothirmayi and they are working presently in the department.

Sri. K. Surya Koteswara Rao; Sri. V.K. Chiranjeeva Rao, Dr.S. Hanumantha Rao, Dr. P. Lakshmi, Sri. D. Appalanaidu, D.W.J. Victor, J. Sambrajyam & D. Jagadeeswara Rao all of these worked as members of B.O.S. of Andhra University Board of Studies (U.G.), also worked as paper setters for various Universities and have some papers published in International Journals. They lead the Department with zeal and Inspired the students and colleagues towards learning Mathematics. Dr. P. Lakshmi participated in preparing Text Books for Intermediate and Degree Classes by Telugu Academy.

The Department has separate staff room, Class Rooms are well equipped with all essential material. Separate class rooms are allotted for the Degree Students.

Department Library:

The Department has separate Library provided with essential number of books required for students. The Library contains 52 academic books and competitive material for references.

Significant Achievement of the Department, Faculty and the students.

 

  1. Department documented details of study project, old question papers reviews, Class Seminars, Presentation of papers at seminars by students, Proceeding of problem solving Sessions etc.
  2. Remedial Coaching Programmes are conducted for academic backward students Consultancy is offered to outgoing students and also to old students who are desirous of appearing for competitive examinations ANUCET, AUCET Examination into PG Programme etc.
  3. Paper clippings of important events, Science discoveries of National and International importance are documented and are made available for the benefit of faculty and students as well.
