Department of Physical Education
Introduction
Orgin:
The department of physical education was established in 1953 in the same year the college was established. Sri G Seshagiri Rao was the founder physical director. The college was up graded to Degree College in 1956 and the need for one more physical director arose. Sri B.Simhachalam joined the department in 1967. The physical education at A.M.A.L. College became prominent and occupied a prime place among Andhra University affiliated colleges. The department is equipped with all necessary sports and games items and facilities. The able physical directors provide good training / coaching to the students of the college. The department is well known for ball badminton, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Hockey, Power lifting, Weight lifting & Athletics etc.
Growth:
The physical education department has grown along with the intake of students. An assistant physical director was added to the team of one physical director. The department has identified more than 300 students who are interested in participation of various sport events and games. Multi – Purpose Gymnasium established 2002

2.0 Faculty
2.1 D SHESHAGIRI RAO is the founder physical Director of the college who joined the department on 2 September 1953. He took all the players to clear the bushes, small plants and grass to prepare ball badminton, basket ball, Volley ball, Kabaddi, foot ball courts. He is responsible the make the A.M.A.L.College as one of the best colleges in the Andhra University region to have strong teams in basket ball, foot ball.
2.2 B.SIMHACHALAM, B.Com, M.P.Ed., is the successor of Sri D.SESHEGIRI RAO and brought all fame to the college in the arena of sports and game, He worked 28 years at A.M.A.L. College working with total dedication and commitment to improve the skills of Sportsmen of the college. He is fond of ball badminton game and prepared every year strong competitors of this game. A.M.A.L. College is well known for ball badminton game in the state of Andhra Pradesh, He was the chairman of referee board of Andhra Pradesh state Ball Badminton Association.
2.3 B.SATYANARAYANA, MA (Politics), MA (Pub. Admn.), MP.Ed. He is the successor of Sri. B.SIMHACHALAM. Worked from 1972 to 1998 in the college. During his tenure, he trained several students to achieve higher position of excellence in the Fields of Several games and sports events. He was the member of Andhra University selection board for sports & Games. He also worked N.S.S Programme officer and Director of Indian Red Cross society, Anakapalle branch.
2.4 P.RAMALINGESWARA RAO worked as Assistant physical director. He is a well known Tennis player not only in this region, but also a good vetaran tennis Champion. He is the man behind the preparation of Tennis court, hockey ground and athletic track.
2.5 Dr. KV.S.NAIDU Joined on 29 June 2000 as physical director. He completed M.A., M.P.Ed, D.Y.Ed, NIS(ct), Ph.D. Mr. Naidu is known for power lifting event. He participated in state level power lifting competitions. He trained several students to achieve championships of power lifting competitions at University level. He is a selection committee member of Power lifting, weight lifting, best physique, Kho-Kho & Ball Badminton, Kabaddi of Andhra University Sport's Board, and also executive member of sports board Andhra University.
Mr. Naidu is instrumental in bringing Rs.3.00 lakhs financial grant from Ministry of youth Affaires & sports under Non-Consumable sports equipment scheme. The college has acquired gym equipment. He has also received UGC grants of outdoor stadium Rs. 60 lakhs, Basket Ball 2.5 lakhs & sports equipment 3 lakhs to the college. He is the man behind the preparation of Indoor & Outdoor courts, He also N.C.C C-certificate holder and also completed one orientation & three refresher course with "A" grade.
He has publication of 10 papers in national and International level. Organized state level Basket Ball (Boys & Girls) tournament and several A.U. Inter-collegiate tournaments and coaching camps at our college campus. He has acquired Ph.D award from Andhra University Visakhapatnam.
Y. Naidu B.P.Ed. joined the college in 2014. He has participated in several competitions at state level. He organized games and sports in the college. He functioned as team manager for various sports competitions. He has prepared courts in the ground.

3.3 Games equipment available of our college
4.0 Multipurpose gymnasium The College had a full pledged multipurpose Gymnasium. The gym was started in the year 2003. Ministry of youth affairs has sanctioned a grant of Rs.2,99,600/- vide letter No.F36-8/2001-spi, d131-3-02. The management of the college contributed Rs.44600/- It purchased the following equipment.
